Description

Managing Broken Eggs [Food Waste] in Boxes - Retailer Insights

If a box of dozen eggs has just one broken egg, regardless of the extent of the damage, according to EU regulations, and to be compliant, retailers are required to throw away the other eleven eggs.

However, our working group has seen evidence in some markets where this is not the case, where the other eleven eggs can be sold at a discount to the full price of the dozen eggs and not thrown away.

In this working group meeting we will explore how retailers across the world are managing the cost of losses on eggs, fixing the root causes and at the same time, keeping shoppers safe.

This is a retailer, producer and academic only meeting.
