Since being first commissioned by ECR in 1999 to undertake ground breaking research on the scale and extent of retail losses across Europe, over the ensuing 24 years, I have had the unparalleled opportunity to help the group forge its position as an increasingly global think tank providing new knowledge on how retail businesses, and their suppliers, can manage the often delicate balancing act of selling more and losing less. It is a unique organisation, driven by a desire to generate research-driven insights, made freely available to the industry, and I am proud of its achievements to date and its burgeoning plans for future work.
